The WTF Files

I have no idea what this is... if anyone can help me out, elighten me. I can not figure this out at all. It's correlated with petroleum, but not toxic or flamable? Hence I ask the question in the title. Something is not right here, apart from the incident. What goo like that is hot, but not flamable or toxic?

I saw the headline "Mystery Blob Eating Downtown LA" over on Drudge and was filled with a rapidly toggling pair of thoughts. First, that some idiot was doing a PR stunt: it's LA, it's filed with idiots seeking attention that they do not deserve. The second was that something out of a B-movie had finally been unleashed to wipe out LA, the city that should not be. Well, it seems that neither is the truth, but there could be elements of truth in number two there.

Will wonders never cease?

Tree:1 Me:1

If that looks like a tie, it is. I damaged the tree, a 30-foot pine, at least as much as it damaged me. Neither of us looked or felt good afterwards, but at least I didn't dodge and break my ankle like that last time I encountered a tree in that manner. No, this time, I got a bruised knee, a bruised sternum, and was left breathless for a few seconds and that was it. My board took no damage. The tree lost a lot of bark and branches. It had no comment and was kind enough not to taunt me the next few times that I passed it.

I need a helmet.

Hmmmmmmm...

This last week was so not cool.

Alec Baldwin has his opinions, but he is only an actor and also, in the words of a certain puppet, 'compretely f------ worthress'.

I have time to breath and I'm going snowboarding on my newly tuned and waxed board. The gravest decision that I will face is whether to keep riding duck or to try moving toward an alpine stance. I like that.

Hmmmm...

You know why I hate almost everyone in the MSM so much? It's because so many of them think that they are a branch of government, a part of the justice process, and maybe even THE authority to which all must answer. This administration has been accused of hubris, but for a better example, flip on the TV and tune to CNN. That's a far better example.

CNN is up in a tizzy because the VP did not go to them... nobody at CNN should be suprised. NOBODY should be surprised. You will not attract a person by being mean and unfair to them. Fox is not only number one, they are the only TV media outlet that does not completely suck and that still has some shred of objectivity.
Others are complaining that nobody was told about the incident. Hmmm. The local media and the local cops apparently don't count. Who the hell do these reporters and other MSM types think they are? Why does anybody have a right to know about this? They have a right to find out, as I said before, but nobody has a right to be informed.

Oh, and I guess it's only news if it's somebody famous. Wow. The geometry of that one confuses me.

Hmmm...

About time!

Now, I'd just like to say that this was the worst day in a LONG time... and considering some of the bad days I've had, that's an accomplishment. I hope the rest of you are having a better time.

Accident?

Sarah Brady weighs in with (another) dumb comment... I ask the question 'how accidental could the shooting of a lawyer be?'

The difference between her and me? I have a sense of humor.
UPDATE:
Have a cow, reporters! CHILL! Everything is going to be OH-KAY! And, no, nobody is going to charge VP Cheney with a crime. Sorry folks, move along, nothing to see here. Also, last time I checked, calling the press is not in any accident or medical checklist. Nobody in the media has any right to ask why he/she was not contacted about this incident. They have a right to TRY to find out, but they do not have a right to know or to be informed. -CF

I found some other idiocy today: The Telegraph claims that the U.S. is planning to attack Iran and details some elements of a plan learned from a 'senior Pentagon official' Hmmm. If it was true, how would they know? Further, if it were true, THANKS FOR TELLING EVERYONE! There goes that whole element of surprise thing... I guess, in all fairness, it's no big secret that the U.S. may attack Iran in the days to come... oh, nevermind. Wasn't this the same paper that tried to directly influence the last election over here?

Wierdness

Sooo... I went to Idaho for a bit... a few things caught my attention as being very odd.
The first, a true moment of zen. I do not expect anyone to believe me for a second, but I swear this is true: I was boarding this trail and I came upon a sign that read 'Caution: Racing in Progress'. Fair enough. Now for the moment of zen: 'SLOW'.

I kid you not. Of all the times not to have a camera...

Later on the same day, I went into this Chinese joint... where I dined to country music...

I had some fun up the great frozen north, but I'm happy to be back home where things make sense... like traffic jams at 11PM... and signs indicate closed roads where no road has ever existed.

Also, I plan on checking myself into elipses addiction rehab...

Peace

You never see Christians, Buddhists, Witches, Catholics, Druids, Animists, Jews, Mormons, or ANY OTHER religeous group doing this... or this... even when insulted, provoked, demeaned, and made fun of.

The Underground Chem/Bio Railroad

I have long suspected something like this, only I thought it was carried out by truck convoys: There seems to be some truth to the theory that Saddam, in the last days of his tyranny, moved massive quatities of chmical and biological agents outside what were then his borders to the peaceful, human-rights-loving, and progressive nation of Syria. Well, The New York Sun has some information seems to support this conclusion.
Interesting. Very interesting.

Nonsense

Why the hell has Andrea Yates been offered bail? For those of you unfamiliar, She drowned her five children a few years back. This is insane. If I lived in Texas, I'd be on the phone with my rep.

A soldier publicly asks what many of us are wondering:
"Why do you think this is such a huge story?" wrote an officer stationed in Baqubah, Iraq, Monday via e-mail. "It's a bit stunning to us over here how absolutely dominant the story is on every network and front page. I mean, you'd think we lost the entire 1st Marine Division or something.

This morning, John Kerry demonstrated beautifully how unhinged the Democrats are becoming with an overenthusiastic misrepresentaion of high school graduation figures (the rate is 84 percent, Kerry used a figure about two thirds of that)... He also insinuated that the Bush tax cuts only applied to the wealthy. I guess I'm rich now... 'cause I saw a tax cut under that plan.
That's terrific. But 53 percent of our children don't graduate from high school. Kids don't have after-school programs... He didn't ask America to sacrifice anything to achieve great goals and the biggest example is making the tax cut permanent for the wealthiest people in America. The average American struggles to find time to take carry of families, working two or three jobs... It's a disgrace. He did not tell the real state of the union.

Man, he's barely making sense... I'd be interested know how a tax cut doesn't help a working family. Also, while the cut applied to the wealthy, it, in fairness, applied to everyone else.

...And with so many people focusing on what certain people looked like at the State of the Union address, I'd like to mention I nearly died laughing when I saw Hillary Clinton simultaneously smile and frown. I nearly died laughing again when the Democrats cheered over the lack of a plan to save Social Security... "YAY, we shot down the plan to save Social Security! WOOT!"
Sure, I was in a punchy mood...
